Our Writing Seminar is a five-day event that brings together leading military reporters, veteran advocates, nonprofit leaders, educators, and other thought leaders to mentor and educate 15 post-9/11 veterans and family members and help them share their stories of war and trauma. The event will be co-hosted by the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
Our five-day writing seminar is funded through a generous donation from the Edelman Family Foundation and Edelman Communications. Additional support comes from Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Barnes and Noble, Pegasus Books, the 9/11 Memorial Foundation, the New York Times, The Half King, Hudson Whitman, and many more. Attendees will explore topics ranging from writing basics, such as narrative structure and word selection, to pitching a book for publication. Guest speakers will include:
